Call to Order:

 

Chair Dave Plyer called the meeting to order at 7:04pm. Quorum established at 7:35pm.

 

In the absence of the Secretary, the Chair requested that the meeting notes be taken

by Matthew Sullivan.

 

Approval of Minutes

 

Chair asked that the reading of the minutes of the January 25, 2007 Council meeting be waived, if there was no objection. There was no objection or discussion. Minutes were approved as submitted.

 

Reports

 

Chair Report -  Dave Plyer presented Chair’s report and a copy was received for the Council files.

 

No meetings of the Executive Committee or the Council are scheduled for March.
The next meeting of the Council is 7:00pm, Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Seminole Community Library.

 

Nomination Committee Report - Matt Sullivan reported no nominations received for the Secretary position.
 

New Business

 

Member Cathy Corry moved to extend the Pinellas County Juvenile Justice Council Strategic Plan for an additional three years, to 2009-2010. Motion seconded by Matt Sullivan. After discussion, motion passed unanimously.

 

Member Cathy Corry moved to write to the Attorney General for an opinion on the legality of the Pinellas County Juvenile Council to continue to function as defined by FS 985.664. Motion seconded by Greg Pound.  After discussion, motion passed unanimously.

 

Council Member Announcements

 

Bonnie McClelland gave information about, "A Day at the Capital" on March 13, 2007 to heighten awareness of suicide prevention.

 

Cathy Corry reported that James Uliasz, Pinellas JDC Superintendent, plead no-contest to DUI on February 5, 2007, was adjudicated guilty and is on probation.

 

Cathy Corry reported that there is not yet a sponsor for legislation, proposed by Miami-Dade Public Defender's office, that would put limitations on disclosure of juvenile arrest records.
